Thriftasaurus: Happy New Year!

Probably like lots of you, I didn't do much thrifting this week. I went home for Christmas, worked extra shifts at work & spent lots of time with family. I got my sister to drive me quickly to the Windsor thrifts with my little home girl sidekick (my niece), but they were plenty picked, or just not full because of the holidays. My sister did give me a $10 gift card for Value Village.

In Windsor, I picked up a New Kids on the Block sleeping bag ($4.99) & this vintage Pyrex Shenandoah 404 mixing bowl, not really my style, but the price was right & so was the condition, so maybe a trade or a resale or for the booth.

On Boxing Day, my dad drove me to Knightsbridges Antique Mall in Northville, MI.. place has a gigantic abandoned psychiatric ward next to it, picked up a few nice items, one I had to leave behind in Windsor because I couldn't carry it home. Pyrex 1958 promotional Golden Hearts casserole with lid & cradle & box. My second boxed Pyrex. My first with cradle. I don't have a pic of it, so.. gotta borrow! $15 (is that a good price..?). When I pick it up in May, I may trade it off. My other finds are still packed away, so I`ll post next week!

pic from here.

Happy New Year everybody!

Would love to see what you`ve thrifted or gotten for Christmas, link up below!

Top 10 Finds of 2012!

Top 10 Finds of 2012!
& kinda a 2012 wrap-up.

I always like doing a Top 10 list every year, but I don't think I ever posted it before, so this is a first for me. Would also love to hear about everybody else's favourite finds this year, too.

2012 has brought a few failures for me, which I will accomplish in 2013. I was brought down by negative dead weight & toxic, controlling personalities which I have completely broken off contact from for many months, so it's not like they will be welcomed back into my life, so these things will be accomplished. These past few months have been very pleasant & I do see a great 2013 ahead with much more being accomplished than in the past. Here is to a great year for everybody!

(in no particular order)

Vintage Moon Deco Pyrex, found with my friends in London, ON.

This vintage bowling towel from 1980 found in Scarborough, ON. The graphics on this towel I am just in love with.
"Keep On Bowling"

Completing my first set of Butterprint fridgies this year with my last 503 was quite a feat, since I was prepared to order them on eBay, but now I've completed over 3 sets (I really don't know how many I have to be honest). Hamilton, ON. Toronto, ON. Woodstock, ON.

This The White Rabbit glass (from Alice In Wonderland?) was my second favourite glass finds, first in graphics. Wish I could find out more about it. Anybody? Toronto, ON.

This Thirst Aid glass below completed a set of 6 glasses that I had bought ages ago from Goodwill. My BF accidentally broke one a few years ago & it caused one of our biggest fights ever.. well now the set is once again completed & I can finally let it go (this was probably his favourite thrift find of the year).  Toronto, ON.

I've wanted a sealed Orbitz drink for awhile. Finally found one in an antique market in Ontario. What is funny, is my BF's father used to work for a company that produced the goo for the floaters (or something).

Very simple, cheap too, but also exactly what I was looking for - this Cathy weight loss diary. Got this in the same antique market as the Orbitz. You can keep track of everything in here. Comes in quite handy!

Coral Red JAJ Snowflake... absolutely adore. AMAZE Goodwill find. Toronto, ON.

I was so jealous of everybody's canisters on their blogs. Glad I finally have a set to call my own & they only cost $3. Burlington, ON.

Last, this Dick Tracy corkboard. I was looking for one at the time, too. Toronto, ON.

What were your fav finds of 2012? How was your year?

Thriftasaurus (A Thrift Haul Linkup!)

Uh, so sorry Linky Tools deleted all my past linkups because my I guess my subscription was over (thought they might send me an email instead of doing that...), so sorry about last week being cut short. I'm going to be going with inlinkz instead since they haven't cut off my one free thumbnail linkup from a long, long time ago. But... I was saving the money I made from eBay to pay for the inlinkz & guess what? Boyfriend spends ever last penny in the account minutes before I go to pay for it. I was specifically keeping it in there until Saturday night so my subscription would last longer... a serious GRRRRRRRRRRRR! So no image linkup this week, sorry.

Probably the dirtiest thing I've ever bought at the thrift, this 1980's stuffed Pac Man for $4. I plan on tossing it in the washer when I come home from Christmas, see how it turns out. Pour some oxy on that. You should have seen the look of dismay on my BF's face when he came into the store & saw me carrying it around.

Vintage cards seem to be everywhere lately! I've probably added over 100 to my collection in the past 2 weeks after not finding anything worthy in a suuuuuuper long time. Here are some more, Mr. Bean, Ren & Stimpy, Charlie Brown, other vintage... also some Garfield & other things in there not pictured.

Some Pyrex has hit the shelves:
my first butterdish - Butterfly Gold, $2 (mint, too)
Spring Blossom Green
Federal bowl (always pick up these circus themed Federal bowls)

The Delphite fridgie (my 6th..) is chipped, lidless, I didn't need it... Isn't the mug fab? My BF told me I need to drink more tea. I told him, I need a new mug to drink more tea.

I guess that's it for this week!
I wasn't going to decorate my tree this year, but finally found some bulbs.. I don't even know where half my vintage Christmas stuff is (sad, especially because I live in an apartment), so it's mostly just new stuff around the tree. The bulbs were $4 at Goodwill. They do the job.

I don't remember where I got this picture from (wish I could credit the person), but this is my dream tree - I love it!

Spring Blossom Green for trade. I have too many of them.
Charlie Brown cards anyone?

Can't wait to see what everybody found!
Thanks for linking up everybody &

Happy Holidays: Vintage Photos of Aluminum Trees

Happy Holidays!

My shopping is done, I'm going to get in some last minute thrifting before I go home for the holidays in between extra shifts I took at work to make up for the time I'll be losing.

Here are some vintage photos of aluminum Christmas trees.

Who is celebrating this year aluminum style? Anybody doing the real thing?
I live in an apartment where real trees are not allowed, but I love the aluminum trees anyways. I'm not really satisfied with my 4 foot, so next year I've got to go bigger!

As predicted, I did minimal thrifting this week, the shelves were still pretty baron, but as always, there were some diamonds in the rough.

Basically, it was a 1980's explosion.

Some vintage Pac-Man fabric... it has a bizarre stain on it, I have no idea what it could be. I was so excited to find it, too. I'll have to see if it can wash out. Is there yards & yards of it, though. The stain happened from the fabric being folded & it leaves a film on your hands after touching it... You can see it in the photo, right about the word Pac-Man. Kinda depressing.

This stand up Care Bears cake pan set is AWESOME. A friend is coming up for his birthday in the new year & I'll be baking this cake for his birthday. All In The Family board game, 1972.. not the '80s, but whatever.

Pyrex. A Butterfly Gold 503. Would love to trade, if anybody is interested, but please note, there is a chip on the inside of the lid.

I'm just going to say this is from the 1980's... always wanted one of these tiny shopping hand baskets.

Some very retro 1980's Christmas stockings - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I've been on a wild search for 2 years actually for 2 nice vintage white stockings, but surprisingly, they've been impossible to find! These will be just perfect!

I listed my vintage Strawberry Shortcake stationery on eBay & guess what? All had winning bids from the same bidder with 0 feedback. Ended yesterday, today eBay cancelled them all as they are no longer a registered user. I don't get why the hell they bid... they even waited until the end of the auction to snipe the items

Early Pyrex Christmas Gifts

As I mentioned, my boyfriend went to Columbus, OH & I told him it'd be a perfect time for him to visit the 53,000 SQ FT antique mall there & pick me up the perfect Pyrex Christmas present. I made him a Pinterest page with pieces & prices he should pay, he did not adhere to my price guide, but did to the pattern guide! I had to remind him that you're not supposed to tell people how much you paid for their present.

For Christmas, I got:
2 beautiful Black Snowflake space savers (with lids) - I now have 4 (two without lids)
a set I have been dying to complete - he got me the full set of pink Gooseberry Cinderella bowls!
& a Butterprint Bake Serve & Store - Yippie!

Aren't they beautiful?
